Orchestral Sketching is the art of creating rough mockups of your musical themes with only a handful of tracks. It can help you capture the essence of your theme in as little as a few minutes.
But it also forces you to pay attention to the core building blocks of your theme, exposing your flaws, and making it easy to see where you should improve.
This course will take you through the process of crafting your own orchestral sketch template, picking the right libraries and sounds, as well as processing them to sound awesome right out of the box. So that you can just input your melodies, chords, and background elements and get solid sounding mockups in a matter of minutes.
Through 5 hours of video content, you will not only learn how to set up your sketch template and record musical ideas faster than you could ever imagine, but also how to turn these theme ideas into full track structures at lightning speed using simple techniques.
It is a course aimed towards helping you write both clearer, stronger, and faster.
We are starting off the course with some fundamental knowledge, mindsets and essential concepts around the topic of sketching.

Orchestral Sketching is for composers of all levels that want to speed up their workflow, and create great sounding sketches of their musical ideas in a very short time. It is for people who struggle with taking their musical ideas and turning them into a fully fledged theme, or that struggle to turn a theme into a full composition. It is also for people that want to eliminate the overwhelming options and distractions that can present themselves when you start a new piece, and want to focus heavily on the few key elements that will make your composition great.
The course will give you tools and techniques to come up with musical ideas fast, turn them into great sounding sketches in minutes, and further turn those themes into full composition structures that you can finish in your main template.
This course is not for complete beginners that don’t have any background in creating cinematic music, or little experience using sample libraries and DAWs. It is a course that requires foundational knowledge in composing, orchestration and production, and to own at least one modern high-grade sample library (Spitfire, Audio Imperia, Orchestral Tools, 8Dio, EWQL etc) to work with. If you want to learn the absolute basics, we got other course offerings that better suited, like Cinematic Music: The Essentials, and Cinematic Music: From Idea To Finished Recording. However, if you got the essentials covered and want to work faster, smarter and more efficiently, this course is definitely for you.
The course is based on 5 hours of video content, spread across 4 main modules. It is based on self-study, where each video and module is focusing on a specific topic, that you are encouraged to practice and experiment with afterwards. We do have a very active Facebook group that you are encouraged to share your work in, ask questions, and communicate with other students.
